Speaker Profile – Prof. Arpita Patra Dr. Arpita Patra is an Assistant Professor at Indian Institute of Science. Her area of interest is Cryptography, focusing on theoretical and practical aspects of secure multiparty computation protocols. She received her PhD from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras and held post-doctoral positions at University of Bristol, UK, ETH Zurich, Switzerland and Aarhus University, Denmark.
Abstract : The interplay of cryptography and machine learning (ML) has reached a new height with the unprecedented possibility of using modern machine learning algorithms in diverse domains such as medical diagnosis, facial recognition, finance and many more. This talk will throw light on what future they hold together, what is the state-of-the-art and how they contributed each other in the past.
Cryptography- The science of Secrets is the study of mathematical techniques for securing digital information, systems, and distributed computations against adversarial attacks.
Machine learning- an art of automating automation - The study and construction of algorithms that can learn from and make predictions on DATA without being explicitly programmed, through building a model from sample inputs.
Impact of Crypto on computational Machine learning(ML) and impact of hard learning on Cryptography was
presented with mathematical analysis.
